As Senate Republicans begin another year, it is time again to evaluate our current "State of the State." Because we're still experiencing some tough times, we remain committed to finding REAL solutions for REAL families, employees and job providers of Michigan.
We have families, friends and lives rooted in every area of this great state. Senate Republicans know first hand the devastating impact the struggling auto industry is having on the lives of everyone because we are living it with you.
We have a comprehensive plan to turn around our state's struggling economy. This plan reflects our steadfast commitment to growing this economy and ensuring Michigan is once again the envy of the nation. Our plan is based on the knowledge that government doesn't grow jobs - businesses and entrepreneurs create jobs. We want to provide a high quality of life, make health care more affordable, provide safe streets, maintain and enhance our excellent schools and continue to build strong communities - all which are not partisan issues, but people issues.
The Senate Republicans promise to accomplish this with the following goals:
- Work with job providers to put Michigan back to work.
- Work to ensure financial and personal security for our state and its residents - keeping families in their homes.
- Work with communities to develop neighborhood schools that will ensure our children have every tool, advantage and training necessary to succeed in this global economy.
- Work to protect our environment and our greatest natural resource - The Great Lakes and our fresh water.
We believe our "New Agenda for a New Michigan" is a large step in the right direction.
